DPDT Slide Switch's Product Operating Principle

The DPDT Slide Switch works by physically sliding a lever to change the connection between the input and output terminals. The sliding mechanism moves a conductive contact inside the switch housing, bridging the appropriate terminals to complete or break the circuit.

In the ON-ON configuration, sliding the lever connects each input terminal to one of two output terminals.

In the ON-OFF-ON configuration, there is an additional neutral (OFF) position where no connection is made between input and output terminals.
